Who am I?

Well, at work I am a trouble shooter for NHS Tayside - which means I eliminate problems (and sometimes people)! This also involves setting up new and innovative work programme & patterns for anyone involved in the NHS.

What is your history?

Finished my second term as chairman of "Bridge". During my 8 years in hospital radio this time around, I was also the last chairman of Radio Liff before it closed!!

I am proud to say that I set up the Angus Bike Chain Cycling Club (25 years old this November!) which has gone on to become one of the top clubs in Scotland winning several national titles and Scottish records.

I was chairman of that for 19 years and am now an honorary member, before moving on to set up the Carnoustie Rednecks Roller Hockey Club, Tayside Roller Hockey League, and almost the Scottish Roller Hockey Association before I retired as a player and chairman/official and things - got worn out!

Also help set up the Angus Sports Council many moons ago - was Chairman of that as well!

Almost forgot!! - also helped set up the Fairport Triathlon club - and yes! I was also chairman of that!!

Music Tastes

Although my roots are into New Country music, I am fortunate that I like and can relate to all kinds of music genre apart from the present charts.

Likes & Dislikes

I like and respect anyone who has little talent, little belief in themself or has an adverse difficulty, but strives to better themself.

I dislike anyone, who has talent but wastes it. I also dislike anyone "on an ego trip" who think that they are actually better than they are !! (There are more out there than you actually think!)

I get annoyed because I can't understand anyone who can only focus on one type of music - As that person normally wants a career in the MeedeeeAH ! - how do they expect to get on!! Also I get annoyed with bad diction on air !!!!!

Ambitions

BRIDGEfm has a unique opportunity to pioneer hospital radio not only in Tayside but Britain with Digital Radio. In the next few years analogue transmission will disappear and everyone will be "Digital". By that time Bridge will hopefully have settled into the type of station that is appropriate to both patients and staff and a great future could unfold.

Funniest Thing that happened on Radio

What a choice!!

Is it, When I look back, it has to be, Why did I join Radio Liff !!

Or is it tuning in and listening to presenters waffling their way through a mistake (some are obviously more experienced than others!) This could be any day!!

Otherwise, it must be the age old DJ's nightmare - speaking to someone in the studio and being distracted, and removing the penultimate CD for the night and closing down the CD player, only to discover that I was some 5 minutes short! (Blame it on a technical problem!! - the listeners will never know!

Or was it a rival hospital radio playout system that used tapes that went "hairy" and broadcast a two hour show in about 25 minutes!! It was quite funny actually how many people actually became aware and listened in! (let's stop there and bite my lips and be professional for once - huh!)
